The 2011 Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km will be dedicated to Noel Robinson of Naas, County Kildare, Ireland who unexpectedly and sadly passed away while running last week. There will be a moment of silence for Noel on Sunday morning before the start of the race.
Noel ran the prior 8 Ras na hEireann U.S.A. 5Km and he always took great joy in fielding a pub team for the “Sporting Paddy” Gaelic Cup award that went to the fastest pub team.
In the picture attached is his 2003 winning team “Nash’s Pub” that included his nephew Joe Robinson who flew over from Ireland to race on his uncles team. Another pub team that Noel put together won again in 2007 – this time it was for The Clock Pub also in Southie.
The “Sporting Paddy” Gaelic Cup Award is to be renamed the “Noel Robinson” Gaelic Cup Award in 2011.
